Alpine has released a new radio that uses a different steering wheel control communication method than what is typically used. We have worked with Alpine on a solution for PAC products to work properly with this new communication method.
This article is only for the iLX-W670. Do not follow this article for the newer designed iLX-W670S. That radio follows typical Alpine configuration and wiring.
Please review the steps below for using a PAC SWC interface or RadioPRO interface to have the steering wheel controls work on the iLX-W670.
The ILX-W670 provides 3 wires labeled SW1, SW2, and SWG. The only wires required to make the PAC module communicate controls properly are the SW1 and SW2 wires. The SWG wire will not be used. When choosing the radio selection for the PAC product, ensure that PIONEER/OTHER is selected, or the steering wheel controls will not work.
- Connect the SW1 and SW2 wires from the iLX-W670 to the Blue/Yellow wire from the PAC product. (Figure A)
- Once the radio is powered on, ensure that the steering wheel control options on the iLX-W670 are set to "With Adapter" in System Settings. (Figure B)
If the previous steps were followed, the steering wheel controls should work. The commands are pre-programmed in the radio and on the PAC interface; no extra steps are required.
If you prefer to change the default function settings for the PAC interface, please refer to the PAC product manual for instructions on remapping the button functions.
If you experience Issues with the steering wheel controls after following the above steps, contact technical support for further assistance.
